About Me

Cindy Troy: Romance literature is my love – no pun intended. I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember and have been writing for several years. As a secondary and collegiate English teacher, I appreciate almost any type of writing, but this genre is my favorite, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to contribute to it. I have been an English teacher since 1995 and cannot imagine myself doing anything else -- unless, of course, it's writing novels all day. I spent the first 33 years of my life in Arizona, but recently made a leap of faith as my husband, daughters, and I packed up everything and left our family and friends behind to move to northwestern Kentucky. We have certainly been blessed in that decision as we have found a new and loving community in which to raise our two beautiful girls.

Contemporary Romance...

Contemporary romance, which is set after World War II, is often what people mean when they refer to a romance novel. The largest of the romance novel subgenres, contemporary romance novels are set in the time in which they were written and usually reflect the mores of that time. Heroines in the contemporary romances written prior to 1970 usually quit working when they married or had children, while those novels written after 1970 usually have, and keep, a career. As contemporary romance novels have grown to contain more complex plotting and more realistic characters, the line between this subgenre and the genre of women's fiction has blurred.

Over half of the romantic fiction published in the United States in 2004 (1468 out of 2,285 books) were contemporary romance novels. (Wikipedia)

Special Note

While copies of the book show a dedication to my Husband-- which is absolutely deserved -- it also needs a dedication to my dear dear friend, Holly. Holly brought me my first romance novel and first came up with the silly notion that a couple of full-time English teachers, wives, and mothers could actually write a book.
